Bauer Impressive But Indians Fall in 12

CLEVELAND - The Indians wasted another good pitching performance from their starter Wednesday, as Trevor Bauer https://www.angelsfanshere.c… 's seven solid innings wasn't enough as the Colorado Rockies rallied for a run in the 9th and a run in the 12th to take home a 3-2 win. The offense managed to put runners on base a lot, but had just one big hit when it counted, that being Frankie Lindor's two run homer to put the Indians up 2-1 in the 3rd inning. It looked like it might hold up, but Cody Allen blew a save in the 9th when Bradley Zimmer tried to slide and stop a ball from getting by him. The ball rolled away from him, allowing a double to Jonathan Lucroy and the Rockies to tie the game. Charlie Blackmon's 27th homer of the season and second in two days won the game in the 12th off Indians reliever Zach McAllister. Bauer Impre sive Again Say what you want about the lo s, but you have to be impre sed once again with the way Trevor Bauer threw the ball for just over seven innings for work. He didn't walk a batter, struck out nine and allowed just one run https://www.angelsfanshere.c… on seven hits, and was able to mix his pitches well and worked out of any traffic. In Bauer's last three starts he's allowed five runs in 20 innings with five walks and 21 strikeouts. This is the type of pitcher the Indians will need down the stretch, and right now he's only behind Corey Kluber when it comes to Indians starters throwing the ball well. Lindor grounded out with Almonte on third in the 7th, and in the 8th with the bases loaded Brandon Guyer pinch-hitting hit into an easy force out. It's easy to look back at the chances the team had to find a way to win the game, but just one base knock in a key situation really could have made it a much different game.1. Game of the trip will be Thursday as they start against the Rays, with lefty Blake Snell, who is 0-6 on the year for Tampa against Danny Salazar, who has been impre sive in his return to the rotation thus far.
