Seattle Seahawks preseason may already be underway [url=www.seattleseahawkst… , but the team does have four more days of training camp to finish up, and the first of those four was completed on Sunday. As reported earlier, the Seahawks made several roster changes, with FB Jalston Fowler, TE Je’Ron Hamm, and LB Warren Long all waived, while C Marcus Henry, LB Jason Hill, and CB Elijah Battle were all signed. One of the most encouraging things to hear/see from Sunday’s practice was the return of WR David Moore, who was the victim of an ejection-causing helmet-to-helmet hit by the since-released Indianapolis Colts safety Shamarko Thomas. Moore went through concussion protocol and was able to fully participate in practice, which is tremendous news.Practice NotesThe starting safeties were once again Tedric Thompson (FS) and Bradley McDougald (SS), as Earl Thomas continues his holdout. Tre Flowers also started at right cornerback, in place of the injured Byron Maxwell.Among those who did not practice were RB CJ Prosise, DL Nazair Jones , and WR Amara Darboh, all of whom have hip flexor issues. RG JR Sweezy was also out due to an ankle injury suffered a few days ago. Neither DB Neiko Thorpe (wrist) nor Mike Tyson (ribs) practiced. Ditto LB DJ Alexander (ankle) and S Maurice Alexander (hip flexor), As for those who did return to practice and engage in full team scrimmaging, DE Frank Clark was all systems go after his recent wrist surgery.Clark and Branden Jackson were paired up on the front line. Meanwhile, DB Dontae Johnson is back after he had surgery on a broken bone in his foot.Sebastian Janikowski made field goals from 30, 40, and 52 yards away, but of note from those kicks is that punter Michael Dickson was the holder. Jon Ryan has been the team’s longtime holder on placekicks, and Dickson is looking to take his job as the team’s punter/placeholder. With rookie LT Jamarco Jones sidelined indefinitely with a “legit ankle sprain,” Rees Odhiambo got some snaps at tackle, having spent most of camp at guard. Odhiambo would presumably be behind George Fant and Duane Brown in the left tackle pecking order.I’m sure we’ll find video of this soon... but it looks like Tyler Lockett is all the way back from his broken leg. He got behind the defense for a long touchdown pass thrown by Russell Wilson.Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight! Rookie DL Rasheem Green got into a scuffle and traded wild swings with OL Willie Beavers following a pass play. This led to Green doing a lap around the field as punishment. Pete Carroll press conferenceHere’s a lengthy quote from Pete about whether or not there are new updates to talk about concerning the Seahawks and Earl Thomas: “No.”On Shaquem Griffin’s preseason debut, in which he had a game-high nine tackles against the Indianapolis Colts: “It took him a little bit to get his feel, and he would tell you that too. He started a little slow, he was really hyped up and kind of amped that he could contribute on special teams [as well].”Injury updates: C.J. Prosise and Amara Darboh are day-to-day with a chance to play against the Los Angeles Chargers next Saturday. Nazair Jones is also expected to make his debut vs. LAC. OT Jamarco Jones is going to be out for awhile as previously mentioned, and it sounds like TE Ed Dickson (quad strain) won’t be back any time soon, leaving the door open for Will Dissly, Nick Vannett, and Tyrone Swoopes to shine some more. Isaiah Battle’s knee sprain is apparently not that serious, and he’s day-to-day.Coach Carroll said of DL Quinton Jefferson: “[He] would certainly be in the rotations right now if we were playing an in-season game.’’ Sounds like Jefferson has made strides in his game, and he was one of the more impressive performers on Thursday night against the Colts.Rookie DL Rasheem Green may have gotten into some trouble for his skirmish with Willie Beavers, but he shined against the Colts, racking up 1.5 sacks and making plays in run defense. “[He] Did some really good things you’d hope an experienced player would do [url=www.seattleseahawkst… ,’’ Carroll said.I know many of you are just champing at the bit to know more about the current punter battle between Ryan and Dickson. Cost alone suggests that Dickson is the choice moving forward, but Carroll obviously isn’t declaring things over just yet. “There’s no telling which way this is going to go right now,’’ Carroll said. “They have to show the consistency and the big kicks, too. Jonny’s got way more experience. He knows how to place the football, he’s great at backing people up.’’Seattle’s wraps up training camp with practices on August 13th, 15th, and 16th. Kalan Reed, signed to the team’s practice squad following a workout early last month, has been promoted to the active roster. He’ll join a group consisting of Shaquill Griffin, Tre Flowers, Justin Coleman, Thorpe and Akeem King. To make room for Reed, the Seahawks have waived linebacker Emmanuel Ellerbee. Ellerbee was claimed off waivers on October 22 , following T.J. Green’s retirement. With Mychal Kendricks set to return next month, Seattle has some flexibility at linebacker, which allowed them to waive Ellerbee. Reed was Mr. Irrelevant in the 2016 NFL Draft, and played sparingly for the Tennessee Titans during the 2016 and 2017 seasons. If he is active for any games with the Seahawks, his contributions are likely to come on special teams.Seattle made two other practice squad transactions on Tuesday. Tight end Tyrone Swoopes, who was re-signed to the practice squad last week, was waived. Swoopes will be replaced by Troymaine Pope, a former preseason favorite of the Seahawks. Pope rushed for 162 yards as a UDFA in the 2016 preseason for Seattle, but was waived during final cuts. Since then, he has spent time with the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts and New York Jets.Pope’s addition is likely to help fill out the numbers in practice this week, as J.D. McKissic remains sidelined while Chris Carson is expected to miss practice time, as he did last week.
